Keen birdwatchers will not be disappointed as there is an impressive list of unique and endemic avifauna including Ramu region’s trademark Victoria crowned pigeon, who rule supreme in the nearby swamplands and floodplains with their neighbours, the double and single wattle cassowaries, Blyth’s hornbill, silver crested cockatoo, robins, parrots, lorrrikets and goshawks. Together with Bogia and Lower Ramu’s freshwater and seawater bird species, many of which are yet to be identified and named, this is PNG’s next biggest bird watching hot spot
