Anua Negu LodgeIn 2007, Manam islander, Gus Tibong and his enthusiastic and jovial wife Jackie, opened Anua Negu Lodge in Bogia Anua Negu, which translates to “our home” in Tibong’s local Manam vernacular, has been built with the tourist in mind. Today, it is Bogia’s only tourist accommodation facility and they have taken some serious steps in trying to develop the industry in the district including Manam Island, nearby sandy islands and villages and the communities along the Lower Ramu River region. The structures are of mixed modern and traditional building materials and offer a level of authentic service and comfort rivalling similar facilities in bigger towns You will find Anua Negu Lodge at the juncture where the short Bogia town bitumen ends, just past the Bogia government-run hospital. The twin-shared, fanned-room and generator-powered accommodation facility used to be the “pasindia haus” (passengers house), a dwelling built by the government to house transiting boat passengers bound to and from Manam with no place to stay here The Lodge is ideally situated meters from the clear waters of Bismarck Sea with picturesque views of Manam Island. The neatly kept lawns reach down to the white sandy shoreline, which is marked with pandanus and coconut trees and small village huts. All rooms are perfectly done up. It is The set-up includes an open, breezy and ocean-view restaurant and bar where you can cook and make beverage for yourself or be pampered by willing and happy local staff. There is enough back-up water and there’s a nearby village where tourists are welcome to visit. You walk into the village and what you get is what you see.
